False Gold - New Myths
The new-wave-babes of New Myths have been hard at work recording their debut album, playing shows in NYC, and shooting this haunting music video for “False Gold” which premiered today on Refinery29. Their debut LP is slated for release this summer. These ladies are going to blow up in no time!

Get To Know New Myths
Do you remember New Myths? If not, they are a very friendly three-piece new wave indie band from New York. I had the opportunity to talk to them, so I did.
Me: Anyway, my first question is "Who are your influences?"
New Myths: Brit- Thom Yorke, Kate Bush, Michael Jackson. Rosie- everything Dave Grohl, Marvin gaye. Marina- Radical Face, Mogwai, Placebo
NM: Ha, we all have such different inlfuences
Me: Ha, so eclectic. Second- how long have you guys been playing together?
NM: We've been playing together as a band for over a year now
Me: How do you like it? And who have been your favourite bands to share the stage with so far?
NM: It's great! Our favorite band that we've shared the stage with was probably Lucius.
Me: What's your favourite venue you've played at so far?
NM: We love Pianos and Glasslands
Me: I've heard good things about Glasslands.
Me: How do you write songs? Is there a process? Is it spontaneous? Are there certain things you try to avoid?
NM: I (Brit) usually write at home then bring the basic ideas to Marina and Rosie where we change and arrange the songs together.
Me: I guess my last question would be "What does your music mean to you guys? Why do you perform?"
NM: Wow, that is a toughie!
NM: (Brit): For Rosie and I, we grew up with both parents as musicians which i think just makes performing and playing music seem like something you should be doing all the time. It is something that we've all been doing since we were little and it's not something I think any of us will ever completely stop. There's just such a great feeling/energy for playing live for an audience and having them connect to your songs. Being a band is a lot of hard work, but it is such a fulfilling blast.
